Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) for Varicose Veins

Minimally Invasive Treatment by Mr. Devaraj at Warwickshire Vascular Clinic
Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) is a safe, modern, and effective treatment for varicose veins, offering relief from symptoms and restoring healthy blood flow with minimal downtime.
At Warwickshire Vascular Clinic, Mr. Devaraj, Consultant Vascular Surgeon, provides expert RFA treatment tailored to each patient’s needs.
What is Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)?
Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) is a modern, minimally invasive treatment used to eliminate varicose veins. It uses heat generated by radiofrequency energy to seal off the affected veins, improving both the appearance and symptoms of varicose veins. At Warwickshire Vascular Clinic, Mr. Deveraj offers expert-led RFA treatment to help you regain confidence and comfort in your legs.
Why Choose RFA for Varicose Veins?
-
Minimally Invasive – No large incisions, stitches, or hospital stay required
-
Quick Recovery – Return to normal activities within 24-48 hours
-
Highly Effective – Over 95% success rate in closing faulty veins
-
Safe and Painless – Local anaesthesia and ultrasound guidance ensure precision
-
Cosmetically Appealing – No visible scarring or vein bulging post-treatment
How RFA Works
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia. A thin catheter is inserted into the affected vein using ultrasound guidance. Once in place, the catheter delivers controlled radiofrequency energy, heating the vein wall and causing it to collapse and seal shut. Blood is naturally rerouted to healthy veins, and the treated vein is gradually absorbed by the body.
Common Symptoms Treated
-
Aching, heavy legs
-
Swelling and fatigue
-
Itching or burning over the veins
-
Skin discoloration or ulcers
-
Visible, bulging varicose veins
Who is an Ideal Candidate?
RFA is suitable for most patients with varicose veins caused by venous reflux. A consultation with Mr. Deveraj at Warwickshire Vascular Clinic includes a detailed assessment and duplex ultrasound to determine if RFA is right for you.

-
Walk immediately after the procedure
-
Resume daily activities within 1–2 days
-
Wear compression stockings as advised
-
Follow-up ultrasound to confirm vein closure
